Custom Monogram Projection at Ufton Court

Oakwood Events Blog Post

We've been asked several times if we could project a custom monogram of the happy couple's names onto the wall at Ufton Court. The problem is that the only suitable areas on the walls are either a bit too small (e.g. above the rear barn doors) or a bit too... erm... above the toilets!

So we decided to take matters into our own hands and have come up with an unusual but effective solution...

The area at the end of the barn behind the ceremony table would be ideal for a projected monogram as it would be front and centre during the ceremony, visible all day and then look great behind the band or DJ in the evening.

If you're familiar with the barn at all, however, then you'll know that there are two large window slits in this wall which would be in the way of the monogram and look like bright patches of white, spoiling the effect.

But having hit on the idea of projecting onto this wall we couldn't let it go and had to find a solution. A simple drop-down projector screen might seem like the obvious answer but it's just not the same as projecting directly onto the lovely textured brickwork of the wall itself.

So there was only one thing to do - the window slits had to go!

Obviously we can't actually brick up the slits or fix anything permanent to them, so we made two panels of realistic-looking 3D false bricks, cut them to size and painted them to match the wall. The panels can be installed and removed without causing any damage and they completely cover the window slits so that the monogram can light up in all its glory!

The end result looked great as it allowed for a really bright, large monogram to sit centrally above the ceremony area. The examples shown here were over 2.5m wide!
